Big Walk Crossplay — PC, Mac, PS5 and Switch 2 Play Together

Yes, Big Walk has full crossplay. How cross-platform co-op works in practice: Join Codes, friends lists, version matching and passwords across PC, Mac, PS5 and Switch 2.
Yes — Big Walk has crossplay. The official FAQ answers the question with a cheerful "Sure!": players on Windows, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 all share the same island, so a mixed group of PC, console and Mac friends can trek together without any workaround.

How crossplay actually works
There is no console-vs-PC split, no separate servers and no crossplay toggle to hunt for. Getting a cross-platform group together comes down to two connection methods:
Method 1: the friends list (same platform only)
If you and your friend are friends on the same platform — Steam, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch Online — the host's game shows up automatically in your in-game menu of active friend games. This is the zero-effort path, but it only works within one platform's list.
Method 2: the Join Code (works across everything)
For mixed-platform groups — or friends on different stores, like Steam vs the Mac App Store — the Join Code is the universal connector:
- The host starts a session. A short, unique Join Code appears in the corner of the host menu (and later in Session Details).
- The host shares the code with the group — any platform, any chat app.
- Everyone enters the code and drops into the same world.
Two fine-print items from the FAQ worth knowing:
- The Join Code regenerates every session, so a code from last week is dead weight.
- The Mac App Store version has no friends list at all (no Game Center support) — Mac App Store players always connect by Join Code.
- Anyone who knows the code can knock, so hosts who want privacy should set a session password in Session Details — and change it if a stream ever flashes the code on screen.
Version matching: the one thing that can block a crossplay session
Cross-platform groups occasionally fail to join each other for a boring reason: mismatched game versions. The rule is forgiving — only the first two numbers of the version must match (a 1.2.3 player can play with a 1.2.7 player). If someone cannot see or join the host's game, have everyone check for updates before blaming their router. More connection fixes live in our saves and technical hub.
Voice chat across platforms
Crossplay extends to comms: Big Walk runs its own in-game voice chat and text chat, so a PS5, PC and Switch 2 trio talks inside the game with no Discord required — in fact, the game is explicitly designed around in-game chat, with puzzles that play with who can hear whom. Built-in mics are fine on every platform: Switch 2, the PS5 DualSense, the Steam Deck and most laptops all have one. The full comms design (and why outside apps spoil it) is covered in our beginner tips.
No matchmaking — bring your own friends
One deliberate absence shapes all of this: Big Walk has no matchmaking. House House built it as a long-form game for a consistent group across multiple sessions, so strangers are never thrown together. If your usual crew is busy, our find players guide lists the communities where groups and open seats get posted.
